Are these the real exam questions?
Yes. All questions and answers are taken unchanged from the official question catalogue of the German Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV, www.elwis.de), applicable from 1 August 2023. We do not change a single letter.
How does the SBF Binnen exam work?
The question sheet has 30 questions: 7 basic questions and 23 specific inland questions, with 45 minutes to complete it. You pass only with at least 5 basic questions and at least 18 specific questions correct – both thresholds apply independently of each other.
Why are the answers shuffled?
In the official catalogue, answer a is always the correct one. So that you learn the content and not the position, we shuffle the answers every time they are shown. You can switch this off in the settings.
Are the translations official?
No. Translations and explanations are learning aids that we create with AI and review step by step. Unreviewed texts carry an AI label. The German original text is always authoritative.
Do I need an account?
No. You can start learning straight away as a guest; your progress is saved. With an account (e-mail or sign-in link) you can keep learning on several devices.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Download the question pack in the settings. Answers, favourites and notes are synced as soon as you are back online.
What does BootFit cost?
All learning and exam features are currently free.
Is BootFit an official app?
No. BootFit is an independent learning service and has no connection to the German Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV), the DSV or the DMYV. You take the exam with an examination board of the associations.
